IMO & The Environment
Our Environmental Commitment
Our planet is important to us, so we are highly committed to creating a better environment. We continually review our processes, products and services in an effort to minimise our carbon footprint and improve our environment. We pride ourselves on the following:
- Compliance with all current environmental legislation and good practice.
- Adoption of a pro-active stance towards continuous improvement and the anticipation of future requirements.
- The raising of awareness within the company to ensure all employees understand the impact of our activities on the environment.
- The maintenance of waste management controls, segregation and disposal of waste material and the continuous search for ways to reduce or re-use waste materials.
RoHS & WEEE Compliance
From 2002, the original RoHS (2002/95/EC ) & WEEE (2002/96/EC) Directives have resulted in significant changes to the Electrical & Electronics Industry. IMO recognized the need for sustainable development and fully supported the implementation of such legislation up to the latest editions of the RoHS (2015-863-EU) and WEEE (2012-19-EU) Directives
IMO continually monitors and reviews its product ranges to ensure that, where possible, IMO products comply with the latest regulatory conditions and as such ensures that all IMO RoHS products do not contain any of the banned substances or contain a level equal to, or better than, those stipulated by the Directive for homogenous materials, that being:
Substance | Content | Ratio |
---|---|---|
Cadmium (Cd) | <0.01% | (100ppm) |
Mercury (Hg) | <0.01% | (1000ppm) |
Lead (Pb) | <0.01% | (1000ppm) |
Hexavalent Chromium (Cr6) | <0.01% | (1000ppm) |
Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB) | <0.01% | (1000ppm) |
Polybrominated Diphenylethers (PBDE) | <0.01% | (1000ppm) |
Bis(2-ethylhexyl) Phthalate (DEHP) | <0.01% | (1000ppm) |
Butyl benzyl Phthalate (BBP) | <0.01% | (1000ppm) |
Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP) | <0.01% | (1000ppm) | Diisobutyl Phthalate (DIBP) | <0.01% | (1000ppm) |
REACH Compliance
From 1st July 2007 the REACH Directive (1907/2006) was made law addressing the production and use of chemical substances, as well as their potential impacts on both human health and the environment, as a result, all manufacturers have to review the use of such chemicals in order to lessen or eliminate any potential health risks.
The EU has introduced a list of chemicals of Very High Concern (VHC) which have to be registered with the European Chemicals Agency (ECA) if they are used or imported in quantities over one tonne or more (per annum).
As with the RoHS & WEEE Directives, IMO continually monitors its products & processes to ensure that, where possible, IMO products comply with the latest release of these regulatory conditions.

IMO is a world leader in DC Isolator technology. Our products are used by some of the largest global solar inverter manufacturers to safely disconnect the Solar Panel Array with reliable arc control and minimum heat rise. |
The IMO FireRaptor is a leading solar safety RSD. If exposed to daylight (UV) solar panels will continue to generate power and the PV cables running from the Solar Panel Array will remain live. The IMO FireRaptor shuts down power at panel level such that the array generated voltage meets the legal requirements of the USA. |
Solar panels generate the highest power when directly facing the sun and tracking technology can improve installation efficiency up to 50%. The IMO Solarcube can control solar panel tracking to 0.1˚ accuracy ensuring optimum energy output and maximum return on investment. |
Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging
IMO Relays & Contactors | IMO Circuit Protection | IMO Installer Kits |

IMO PCB relays and modular contactors are used by EV charger manufacturers world-wide for their internal switching requirements. The parts can be easily integrated with, and controlled by, the EV charge level monitoring equipment thereby forming a “self-contained” switching and isolating system. |
IMO Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCB) and Residual Current Breakers with Overcurrent protection (RCBO) are used extensively by EV charger installers to provide the necessary regulatory levels of protection against overload and to mitigate the risk of electric shock. The products can be installed in a wide range of IMO metal enclosures. |
IMO EV Installer Kits are used by EV charger installers seeking a simple, one-stop, ready-to-install solution for EV charger protection. The kits comprise a single metal distribution unit enclosure and a Residual Current Breaker with Overcurrent protection (RCBO), supplied under an easy-to-order single part number. |
